Aight guys Im in a public league on yahoo's Fantasy baseball and we just drafted. Im liking my team and someone has sent me a trade.
They want to trade Me Jason Schmidt who pitched 213.1 last season with 11 wins 180 K's and a 3.59 ERA with 1.26 WHIP. In return they want JJ Putz who pitched 78.1 Innings with 4 wins 36 saves 104 Ks
and a 2.30 ERA with 0.92 WHIP. Should I make the trade? It might be sucessful for me in the long run.

A lot depends on your roster but shut down closers (like Putz) are very hard to find, a handful of quality starters emerge each year (last season guys like Verlander, Papelbon, Liriano, Annibel Sanchez, Josh Johnson, Jerod Weaver, etc) and most were either free agents or late draft picks. Dont give up a quality reliever for a starter unless your starting pitching is really bad. Look at the numbers you posted, Schmidt will win more games than Putz but all the other numbers favor Putz. With Yahoos fantasy setup you can use relievers in the 2 RP and 3 P spots, it will cost you in wins but you could dominate every other category with top RPs (they will give you more K's per inning pitched, better whip, better ERA). Bottom line...keep Putz!!!

make sure you have at least 2 Closers before sending Putz.

I would definitely take this deal.

Schmidt is now playing in pitcher-friendly Dodger Stadium. Putz, on the other hand, is playing in Seattle........

Take Schmidt. There'll be at least 2 teams with closer problems come June.

It depends on your closers if you have 3-4 good closers already and only 1 decent starter then do it but if you have only 1-2 decent closers i wouldn't do it.

Schmidt.

Even though he's injury prone, starters are more valuable than closers. Closers are also pretty inconsistent (see Lidge/Wheeler) and you can get by with an average one.

NOOOOOO!!

Dont trade Schmidt, he always brings it. Great for IP, SO, Wins, ERA.

They are trying to screw you.
