it's really annoying!!!! how many people are gay in this small world!!!!

People are curious. There's a lot of misinformation out there, and people want to better understand gays, in terms of their lives, their personalities, their thoughts, feelings, the type of sex they have . . . everything.
Yes, we're a small percentage of the population, but we are here, and with so much attention focused onto gays (in terms of bigotry a la Tim Hardaway, scandal a la Ted Haggard, and legislation a la gay marriage), it's no wonder people want to know more!
Personally, I don't find it annoying, I find it liberating, and I'm happy to answer questions on the topic.

Well this IS the LGBT section; and around 10% by some estimates.
