Pancake Tuesday?

Why do we celebrate pancake Tuesday? Who started the tradition? Why? Does anyone know? I've always been curious and no one seems to have an answer.

Look up FAT TUESDAY it is the last day to pig out before lent it started in New Orleans the IHOP decided to raise money by giving away pancakes on Fat Tuesday and you donate money to Children's network. We went this morning I gave some money and bought coffee for my neighbor lots of fun!
