meat from an animal that died, for example, in a cruel slaughter house...would the horrendous manner in which said animal perished affect the person who ate it in a negative way?

it is said it can affect, yes. it's because the adrenaline the body of the animal produces in it's death. and adrenalin is toxic

In a physical sense, yes.

An animal that dies under conditions of suffering will release certain enzymes into its bloodstream that will negatively affect the taste and consistency (and possibly health value) of the meat.

In a moral sense, I would say no.

If you did not participate in the cruel practices of that particular slaughter house, there is no guilt associated with the animal's death so far as you are concerned, and thus none imputed to you.

Not unless while your eating the meat, you think about how cruel the animal was treated, then you would feel negative toward the meat and become a vegetarian.

I think the best answer to that question is to put out the opposite imaginary picture. Suppose one were to eat the flesh of a man who died peacefully in bed, thinking pleasant thoughts, smiling as he approached an eternal happiness. Ribs, anyone?

I'm vegetarian because I have the free will not to consume a harmed animal.

if you believe in karma the yes i guess it is bad. But if you are a rational individual the worst thing is that you feel a little "guilty" but don't worry it will pass

Afterall that is your choice, whether you eat meat or don't. The killing of this life, does not always come into our thoughts as it should.

do you think its the same for apples ripped off the tree or carrots jerked from the ground. they are alive too and its proven that plants feel so shouldn't you starve yourself to death to prove you won't harm any living thing.

Not unless the meat itself made them sick or had disease.
