I have seen pics of the old cars where the horn is on the side of the car, so was wondering which manufacturer was the first to design the car with the horn underneath the hood rather than on the outside of the car on the driver's side.

Private cars were the first to have horns...because they were installed seperately. (Klaxon)
The first mass produced car with an electric type horn was the 1912 Ford Model T.

I've found that 1908 was the first year that they were used under the hood. The horn was called a klaxon. I have not been able to find out the first car. I will keep looking.

GOOD LUCK!!!
