He signs a cheap oil deal with Chavez of Venezuela. Is Ken Livingstone a complete moron? What the heck is this guy thinking? Why would he sign a deal with an oppresive dictator who is systematically undoing democracy in Latin America and has an abysmal human rights record? Why would London, one of the world's richest cities, need to strike a deal for cheap oil for its disadvantaged citizens? Ken Livingstone is another example of the absurdity of socialism.

Say what you will about the need for social reform or whatever. If the UK gov't wants to enact a program to help the disadvantaged, it can certainly do it without the help of Chavez. If you make a deal with the Devil you eventually have to pay....
Chavez tried this scam in the US by offering cheap oil to the poor in the northeast. Rightly, the offer was refused. It's very easy to accept a handout. It takes more character to say, "No thanks. I'll figure a way on my own."
