my best friend has married someone who is a different race to her ad her family although are lovely people, are very strict and oldfashioned. she can not hide it forever and wants to tell them the truth as she will be going abroad to meet his family in 2 weeks.her mom is seriously ill and she does not wish to shock her and make her more ill but at same time she wants to tell her truth.in the meantime her partner is so so upset as he does not want any bad feelings between each other. please help as my friend is absolutely confused and scared and i think suicidal. i gave her best advice i can but i need some one who may have some good ideas to be kind enough and reply.many thanks

Not a good way to start a marriage - lies, deceit, fear, confusion. Sounds like this was a huge mistake. Annulment.

I believe she needs to go ahead and tell them before they find out some other way. That scenario would be 100 times worse. Besides they are her parents they will love her no matter what either they can accept it or not. What is done is done already. If you think about it they are going to be mad regardless because she left them out. All they can do is focus on their life together, and make the most of it. One day they will have children, and the parents will become grandparents. I don't believe they will shun them. Please tell them and let them know that they made a conscious decision, and are very happy in their lives together. If they support her GREAT if not shame on them, but they have to keep living, and being happy for themselves.

WEll she messed up getting married w/o Mom and Dad knowing.
She can always have a dinner to introduce him as a boyfriend, w/plans to get married then all she can do is wait and see what happens. She may end up living in the other country.

I've seen situations like this happen to 3 families and it ripped the gut's right out of those families. Why this happened because that daughter in each of those families did this out of total selfishness.
WTF is wrong with people who do this when they know it will cause great problems in families.?
She should just pack up leave the country permanently and consider herself banned from the family forever because many in her family will never forgive her for this.

if they are the lovely people you say they are they will only want their daughters happiness,but if her mom's very ill her place right now is beside her mom,let everything else go and take care of first things first.after all men come a dime a dozen,she only has one mom.
