If you still have access to the desktop machine, you will need to search for *.pst files. These files contain the emails, contacts and other data associated with Outlook. Any email you had downloaded previously will be in this file.

When you move this file to your laptop, you may want to change the filename so it doesn't over write the new file Outlook created on the laptop. Simply using the File Open menu option will allow you to have multiple PST files open so you can access all of your old email and not delete the new stuff you've downloaded since moving to the new computer.

The only way to get those emails to your laptop is to forward them from the other computer. The emails are stored on the gmail server until Outlook downloaded them. So, the only way to get them over, is to forward them.
