Exactly! If I knew you I would hug you. Who cares if whats-her-face gets married. It has nothing to do with you. They are just in movies and people think they're so great. If I were a celebrity I wouldn't want nobody printing it if I checked into a rehab. People who have no lives just look at them wishing they were celebrities.

Becuase we humans are voyeuristic by nature. We don't really care but that insight into a fabulous lifestyle the majority of us dont experience is quite fascinating. We also like to know if our own behaviour is "normal" and it makes us feel better if "they" behave in the same way as us. Also shows you how its just luck and who you know and not always talent that gets some people where they are! I dont personally give a hoot but like to see and read about them all the same.

I think it is a matter of not having a life that one is satisfied with, which I think is rather pathetic, but like royalty, they seem to have all that we would like to have.
I do not want to be, and do not envy any celebrity their fame and all the stuff that comes with it.
Envy and facination with the life of someone else is sad and a waste of the opportunity to make a very nice life for yourself.

I agree. Instead of gaulking at those people, everyone should be looking at each other and asking "Why are you wasting your life wishing you were someone else?" It's envy, and its is a disgusting human characteristic. If your going to envy someone,...envy the ones that you are close with, the ones you love, the ones you KNOW. Dont presume celbrities are so "COOL" when you dont know them. For all you know they eat their boggers and dont wash their hands after they take a ****! Envy your parents, your friends, and those that envy you back!

Good queation. I often wonder the same thing. I think some people have no life of their own so they become somewhat over interested in the lives of celebrities.

some celebrities are good for society (Bebe Neuwirth and David Hyde Pierce) well others are loosers (Kelsey Grammer). As to why we care, society is shallow and needs to feel worthwhile and so they follow the trends of actors or actress.

Yup. And everybody else going: That's what I wanna be when I grow up. Nobody even thinks of the term. Celebrity? Well, okay. What're we celebrating? You??!! Uh ... How come? I've never heard that line of discourse.

most of them aren't even that talented! And most are not that pretty. I mean if you took off all the make up and plastic surguries they'd be hidious!

It's not that people care, rather, it gives those who have nothing else in common (co-workers, for example) something "relevant" to talk about.

I wish people would stop caring. Then photographers would stop following me around and selling my pictures.
