My sis works at a daycare, er...Montessori. It is all about PR. For instance, diffusing the hysterical mother when her rugrat swallows some of the counting beads, persuading parents that cupcakes are not a good choice for snack time, encouraging them to buy tickets to the fundraising dinner/auction, convincing the to contribute $$$ to outfit the classroom w/the latest & greatest in handcrafted solid wood-&-glass learning materials, being super creative w/ making Mother/Father's Day gifts from construction paper & mayo jars...need I continue. Sis is very diplomatic & also good at creating itineraries for "guilt trips". These are skills any marketer would envy & any employer could benefit from.
Luck w/ your job hunt!

Everything you do is marketing. There is no way you can work somewhere without practicing marketing. Being marketing oriented is very important in offering services such as the one you want to engage in. The issue of inseparability between the service offered and the service provider makes quality of service be judged depending on the service providers among other things. You being a service provider, you must be friendly to both internal and external customers. You must assist customers to solve their problems by using your knowledge and also you must be cooperative. This will add value to the service offered.

You could use your experience at the daycare if you are involved at all in putting out promotional flyers or any other advertising. For example: if you did something like "I put together a proposal and designed promotional flyers to hand out at local events to increase our visability and enrollment" Or if you were involved in giving parents tours of the facility and convincing them that this was where they should entrust the care of their children. Being involved in sending home updates with the children could pertain to marketing. Anything along those lines.

Obviously, you don't even know what marketing remotely implies. Go to a book store and to a library and look up a book on marketing. Seriously.
