Per dollar a t3/t4 turbo kit is the best. On a stock motor a basic t3 (ford svo 1984) or t25 (Mitsubishi) would actually be quite sufficient.

I would get a small efficient turbo that spools quick and make sure to get a good tune.

6-7 psi should net around 170hp to the ground on a 1.6 sohc vtec
If you are 1.5 or 1.6 sohc non vtec look for numbers around 135-140 to the ground.

These are with decently conservative streetable tunes with stock injectors, ignitions. Make sure you have an aftermarket fuel pump.

a t3/t4 turbo kit would definitely be my choice, but I would also do a b16 engine swap first.

and the reason why people like us modify "four-bangers" is because it is a lot cheaper than buying anything new; especially a crappy mustang. ford is WAY overpriced. plus hondas are cooler (i'm doing an h22a swap in my 91 accord YAY).

Just buy a Mustang GT and quit trying to make a Honda fast.
