Screw them. You would be "sheltered" only if someone else (parents) prevented you from watching "R's".

As a teenager I was not allowed to see an R rated movie until I was 18. I was sheltered has far as the violence and sex that are shown in them, that I got to experience for the first time with my 18 year-old friends. And, now today, what I saw in R movies then, they now show on regular TV (sad, huh!) So, if it's you're choice to do that - GO BUDDY! Unfortunately, though, there are many great movies made that are R for minimal reasons that you will miss out on some great art. Read reviews and get opinions from close friends and family on what are acceptable to your taste.

I don't see how avoiding all R rated movies makes you holy. You are missing out on some great films, and not all of them are rated R solely for sex, nudity, bad language or gratuitous violence.

The R rating is sort of arbitrary, anyways. If you really have moral objections to certain things, then you can read more about the reasons why something got an R rating and avoid it based on more knowledge.

But if you don't want to see R rated movies, you're missing out on "Schindler's List" and "Gosford Park" or even "The 40 Year Old Virgin" which has an unbelievable amount of dirty jokes but concludes with someone waiting to have sex until he's married. Which is really pretty "holy."

You would be sheltered if it wasn't YOUR decision not to watch R Rated Movies. Someone who is sheltered means that his or her parents or guardians did not allow them to do anything or see anything that would influence them.

Yes, I think it does make you sheltered. Take a walk on the wild side, rent "Showgirls".
