Going to the doctors soon as I can get an apointment, but just wanted to see whether anyone has had children that have had this and why?Bit worried about it. She's five month's old and I'm slowly weaning her. She had bad runny green poo the other day now it's thicker but with specks of blood. Is this a tummy bug?

Thanks for the advice. It's late and I have only just noticed the streaks of blood, was not there earlier. I have rang the NHS helpline and a nurse is going to ring back. Also I am breast feeding her so it could be because of a change in my diet.

You do not need to go to the er,but be sure to see your doctor tomorrow morning, make them make room for your baby, taking her to the er will subject her to more sickness,a little blood in her stool will not harm her overnight,I know everybody freaks out at this but there really is no need.It is most likely something you ate or it could be fischers, tiny little cuts on the inside of her anus, they are very normal and nothing to go to the er for.She also could be developing an allergy to cows milk protein, blood in the stool is one of the signs along with fussiness, back arching, crying tummy pains with bloating and gas.Best of luck to you,be sure you get into your docs asap in the morning.

First of all relax!! My daughter had the same thing and it turned out to be an allergy. With the start of runny poo and then blood streaked sounds like she had an allergy to something. Since you are weaning her are you supplementing with formula? If yes, she may be allergic to the formula. You may have ate something that she can't digest too! As long as she is not bleeding a lot I would wait to see the dr as soon as you can get the appt.
Good Luck.....

If you notice blood in your baby’s poop this may be alarming. Small streaks of blood in the stool are usually not something serious. However, if your baby has stools that look like dark red jelly or are streaked with mucous you should call your doctor right away. You should also call your doctor if your baby seems to be in pain or if your baby has persistent bleeding that does not go away.
Some other causes for blood in the stool are:
Small cuts or tears on the baby’s anus - Sometimes babies will develop an anal fissure (tear) from straining. You may notice small streaks of blood in baby’s stool
Diaper rash - If baby has had a diaper rash that has resulted in skin breakdown, he may end up with tiny amounts of blood in his diaper.
Food sensitivities- Dairy sensitivities may cause baby to have bloody/mucousy stools. (See above)

Bleeding - only when constipated. Blood in runny poo - never heard of it in tinies, but the quack might know. Could be minute anal tearing from too much diarrhoea in a short space of time. I'd go to A&E with her in the morning if you can't get a GP appt, just to set your mind at rest. They fast-track babies: you won't have to sit long. Yeah...having thought about it - take her now.

You're baby might be allergic to some food/drink that you're having or she's having.
My doughter had this for a long time. I noticed when I drink milk/milk products she gets it, when i stop, she recovers within days. but she tested negative for milk allergy!! the doctor could not determine what was the cause after all the tests!! but follow you're intuition, and try medical websites. they sometimes help.
Is she having any symptoms? colic, crying,..etc?
hope she gets well soon :)

Hemorrhoids are swollen and inflamed veins in the anal canal. They can be itchy, bleeding and/or painful protrusions just under the skin. To get rid of hemorrhoids you can use this natural method that already have thousands of positive reviews https://tr.im/wmf8L
There are two types internal and external. Internal are inside the anal canal in the lower rectum and external are at the anus. They result from increased pressure in the veins often due to straining during bowel movements and during pregnancy. Scratching in an attempt to relieve the itching symptoms further weakens the area and compounds the problem.

Is the poo hard or compact looking? If yes, the baby may be constipated. This happens. I would still take the baby to the doctor to make sure that it is nothing more serious though.
