As a life-long Lion fan (I can't help it, I was born here) I present the following:

An owner (William Clay Ford) who can't effectively run a team or an automotive company.

A team president (Matt Millen) who's record is an amazing (in a bad way) 24 - 72. His record prior to this past season (21 - 59) was good enough to Ford to give him a 5 year contract extension.

A lame duck head coach who, to put it mildly, is in WAY over his head.

An assistant coach (Joe Cullen) who got busted for driving drunk AND nude through a Wendy's drive thru won't be fired.

A QB who threw more picks than TDs, yet the Lions say he's their QB of the future (oh yeah, and he's 34)...hence, the Lions say they're not looking to sign or draft a QB this off season.

A RB with a broken foot that's so bad, he may not even play next season.

Oh, and their #1 pick Mike Williams can't seem to stay away from the fast food, so he can't make weight, and therefore gets almost zero playing time. Because of his size, the Lions wouldn't mind making him a TE, but wait...he can't block.

And it goes on and on and on...Shaun Rogers getting busted for some weight loss supplement that everyone else in the locker room knew was banned; Dre Bly can't seem to keep his mouth shut and now wants a trade; seriously, I could go on for hours.

People dog Oakland and Al Davis, but they've at least tasted success and Arizona is absolutely LOADED with young talent. If they get their O-line together and get a decent head coach (no offense to Green, but he was a bad fit) they're going to be just fine.

As for my Lions, there is no hope. Until the team is sold, the fans here won't ever see a decent product...hell, we'd settle for 8 - 8 at this point.

The Detroit Lions, the worst team in the NFL by far.

The Lions are without a doubt the worst franchise in the NFL and have held that title for an amazingly long time. I chuckle when i read how others bash on the Raiders (werent they in a Super Bowl 5 years ago?). The Lions have won exactly 1 playoff game in their history after the advent of the Super Bowl 41 years ago. How is this for how bad they are....How many of you are aware that the Teaxans have won more games in their first five years of existance than the Lions have won in the 6 years of the Millen debacle. They have won 2 more games in 5 years than the Lions have won in 6!!! How can anyone rank any team as being at the level of the Lions knowing that fact? It had never happened before in the history of the NFL and even the Lions will have a hard time in the future challenging such a level of futility ( but rest assured they will do everything in their power to set a new standard if given the chance). Unless the Fords sell the team Lion fans must reserve themselves to sorry teams and endless stories of how talented they are. Name 5 starters that are even average that Millen has drafted in 6 years...cant do it can you. The offensive line is horrible (but they pay Pro Bowl salaries to Backus and Woody), they used a converted DB as the second best receiver on the team (we have all heard they are loaded at receiver), the TE situation is laughable. On to the D...the line is respectable (Millen picked Redding, the only lineman that he has picked that shows real talent...Rogers was drafted before Millen arrived and the rest are average to marginal), the linebackers are among the worst group in the NFL...Sims looks like a good one but they started such amazing talent as Paris Lenon?...he was cut by GB because he couldnt hold on to his backup job and GB has LB issues also! Kenoy Kennedy is the only DB that is capable of performing the Marinelli defensive scheme, the rest have shown next to nothing (Bly had 2 good years but doesnt play hard now...who can blame him though). That means the Millen regime has landed Roy Williams, Cory Redding, Ernie Sims and possibly Jones could still become a good RB (with his injury problems and the line play he is and will remain a ? mark for the forseeable future).

I absolutely agree with you.....there is not a worse franchise than the Lions and it has been that way for 40 years (anyone dissing the Raiders want to look at the history of both franchises...at least there have been good years in RaiderNation!!!) The Lions couldnt even win with the great Barry Sanders!

Its definitly the Cardinals. Many forget that the Cardinals were the first football team EVER. The first team with a complete roster. And in that time they have won 1 championship. Not super bowl. They won it when the conferences were still seperated and they only had like 10 teams to compete against. They were not the best team...they were the least worst. The cardinals went 3 straight years in the 40's with only 1 win. They were 1-29 in 3 years...i dont have footage from the game they won, but i guarentee it didnt look pretty. Cardinals are the WORST. And thats why it will be soooo much better when they win it all this year :-)

Well, they're up there with Arizona and Cleavland. As long as they keep Millen, they'll probably stay that way. Anyone know where I can get a job that pays that much and I can mess up year after year and still not be fired? I wonder if they'll draft ANOTHER wide receiver in the first round. And to the people saying the Raiders, they used to be something and have a Super Bowl trophy, sure this was before I was born, but the Brown, Cardinals, and Lions don't have jack.

Cheers!

Nope. The Lions are light years ahead of everyone as the worst run franchise in the NFL. Okay..I'll retract that slightly. The Raiders are a close second.

I wont disagree with you because there management sucks from the GM on up to the owners. They are the worst. However, Cleveland and Arizona compete for this title to. Clevend always has so many talented players on their team but they can never seem to get it togethere. Arizona is well Arizona but they have some talent now and should leave this catagory but if they dont it just goes to show how bad of a franchise they are.

I would go with the Raiders. Lousy ownership and management. Pound for pound the most talented team every year, but ownership will not let a coach stay long enough to harness the talent. Even though I hate the Raider, I sympathize for anyone associated with the franchise. Al Davis sucks.

no, the raiders are.
the lions have a mediocre stadium, the raiders have nothing. their stadium is complete crap. the merchandise is overpriced and the food is some of the worst in all of pro sports. everything about the raiders experience is decidedly second class.

as for players, they are about even. the lions have a bunch of crappy players that try, and the raiders have a bunch of superstars that don't.

ownerwise, its the lions being better hands-down. Al davis has dominatrix syndrome. he benches great players and lets them rot just to make a point. he interferes with the coaches calls and never looks in the future. until al davis dies, the raiders will be far and away a second class, bad franchise.

they do have good fans though. raider fans deserve better than the raiders.

Are you talking about all time because if you are i definitely disagree i think the worst team is the Texans because they are a new franchise so they are still working on everything the Lions aren't the best but they are definitely not the worst. The Texans are the worst because of their offensive line they are just young give them time and in a decade or 2 they could be one of the best teams in the league...
