Sudoku of the Day has lots of tips and techniques as well as beginner puzzles to help those who don't where to start with more difficult puzzles. This website has been very valuable to me as I found that beginner techniques I used to quickly solve easy puzzles couldn't complete harder puzzles.

Overall, you just have to get used to seeing numbers and finding out patterns. Keep it up. Sudoku's a lot of fun!

In sudoku, a field is chop up into 9 little bins of equivalent length. the article of the game is to fill each and all of the bins with one-digit numbers without a repeat in a similar field, row, or diagonally. in maximum situations, there are already some numbers to start up with. it fairly is incredibly hard, nonetheless, and that i do no longer in all hazard like it, yet my mom loves it. xD

I approach it in four different ways

1) go through the numbers, 1 through 9 and see how many I can fill it...for example, how many 1s, 2s, etc.

2) look at each square individually and try to place 1 through 9

3) vertical column placement

4) horizontal row placement

Alternating between these tactics seems to work for me.

What I do is process of elimination. You scan the whole column, row, and square for any number already filled in. You can eliminate said number from being filled into the same column, row, and square, because each number is only used once in each column, row, and square. So say...
_____
|2|_|_|< column
|_|_|_|
|_|_|_|
^
row

In this square, 2 has already been filled in. That eliminates 2 from being in any other box inside the square, or in any box in that row or column. Thus, eliminating a 2 from being placed in the squares, rows, and columns. I also use another tactic. Using process of elimination, I can eliminate the numbers already filled in a square, row, and column. Then, I will use any other pre-filled boxes to place numbers that make sense.
