Just an open question for those who believe Harry will survive in the end. What are you theories of what he'll be doing after Voldemort is defeated? (let's just assume that for now.)

I almost could see him becoming the next defense against the dark arts professor. Don't know the academic requirements in the wizarding world to become a teacher, but I really can't picture him becoming an auror. Also, when Voldemort is defeated, the curse he placed on the course will be lifted right? It's his favorite course, and it would be cool to think he'll be the first DADA teacher who gets to stay the teacher for more than a year. (Again, assuming.)

I also can see him being a new head of house for gryffindor. McGonagall's probably gonna be Headmistress, and I don't think they can be head of houses?

But then there's the problem of the school possibly closing down in the 7th book, so how Harry will get the neccesary education to pull this off, I dunno. Oh well, what are you guys' theories

I think your's is a good theory. After all the emphasis in the books on the ever changing dark arts teachers it would seem to fit that he would end up becoming it in the end. Unless of course he succeeds Dumbledore as headmaster and runs Hogwarts, with Hermione and Ron as teachers with him (if of course they were to live) but who knows. Im sure there will be twists that we cant predict.

Honestly, I think that it will be left up to our imaginations if Harry does survive in the end of Deathly Hallows. Obviously Harry would 'need' the proper amount education to become an Auror, or a professor or even a headmaster of Hogwarts.

BUT, seeing as how Harry's survival would have meant that he defeated the most powerful wizard of all time, I'm guessing his education wouldn't be such an issue. I would imagine that everyone would be throwing jobs at him, from the ministry and the school.

So what I'm saying is, if Harry defeats Voldemort, he can be anything he wants. Also, I'm pretty sure Rowling isn't going to go into his future after one of the two dies, so it's left up to our imaginations.

In book 5 he said he wanted to be an Auror. Perhaps he would go onto teach. Remember the average wizard lives to be over 100. He could have many careers. This all depends on if he lives through the war unscathed. Harry Potter fanfic exists cover all kinds of possibilities. I recently read one where he ran a clothing store.

I think that your theory is a very good one with a possibility of happening if harry survives.

I think that Harry will just disappear. He's been in the spotlight for to long and will want to just get away. I can imagine him traveling the world, under a concelment charm of course (lol), or living in the country far, far, away from everyone else.

What would really be funny though is if he became the potions master! lol just kidding =]] no way in that happening

i hope the school doesn't shut down and harry doesn't die. i'm guessing he's going to be an auror (book 5) and eventually the DADA prof. i always wondered about that course. i mean, who was the professor before quirrell? and was quirrell only there for a year? it's just that dumbledore always introduced the new dark arts professor at each opening dinner. weird.

i can't picture him having a single job for a long time. i think he definitely would try his hand at teaching defense against the dark arts. i don't think he's going to be an actual auror though.. at least not officially, because he won't even be in school this upcoming year. for some reason i feel like someone is going to play a part in helping harry defeat voldemort in the last book. like someone tries to save him ... again. out of love.. i dunno. the last word in the book is supposedly "scar". that's some of my thoughts.

i can't wait!

Dumbledor faked his own death -- he'll be back in book 7, more powerful than ever.

After Hogwarts? Why Harry will become Lord Prince of the wizard world, of course, (but a benevolant prince, at that). He'll gain powers more than Dumbledor's.

there's no wizarding regular college.Yound wizards and witches at the instant are not in a position to regulate their magical powers till the age of eleven,so there could be no sence of sending them to a regular college.i assume infants from organic blooded wizard families learn some magic from their parents or older brothers and sisters,on an identical time as 0.5 blooded or dirt blooded infants pass to muggle regular college till they improve the right age to attend Hogwarts.

The movies haven't gotten that far yet. As much as I would love to read the books, my children keep me to busy to do so.
