A nursing home is generally the last place one lives til they die and a convalescent home is a place to recover from an illness / injury and then return home.

That is the basic difference.

ALOT of CMAs and CNAs will say that LPNs just do paper work and treatments while they do all the dirty hard work and that RN's just do even more paper work and get paid for having the easiest job. Nobody is right there. Each job has its own unique degree of difficulty. So many LPNs and RNs started out as CNAs and CMAs and have already done "all the hard work". Its just about money and who has more. Those who would further their education and become the thing the supposedly hate would be upset to be on the recieving end of the bs. But youre right, its not about the petty drama its about what you know and the patients. Period.

I believe one is to recover from an illness and the other is to spend out the rest of your life.
