Because without an imagination there would not have been advancement in technology, science, medicine, literature, or mathematics. Our imagination allows us to ponder the impossible and seek out the means and ways to bring those impossiblities to life.
Personally, my imagination helps me to write and draft short stories. With my imagination am able to travel to far off worlds of my creation a tell the stories of the characters that I meet.

Imagination builds innovation and future benefits for humanity! "Without this gift certain humans have been blessed with, there would not be the technological advancements, which we now count on. A perfect example is Gates imagination for the computer and then putting this invention into creation.

Imagination is what created the things of this world. Ford had to image the first car and then from his imagination he invented the first car. Someone had to image the first dwelling and then create the first dwelling therefore from that imagination was not only the first house or a place to call home created but the first architect was also created for building. Imagination and creation walk hand in hand. You get the jest.

You'll have excellent answers to this interesting question. I want to lend a totally different perspective . . .just to stimulate your imagination. : ) The Universe began with just pure energy. Some of that energy formed tiny bundles that we call "photons". (Stay with me. I'm old. Not crazy.) Those photon bundles zoom off and fly in waves. When two or three photons come together and get tangled up, so to say, they can form tiny shimmerings that don't zoom. We call those tiny shimmerings "particles of matter". Those particles form families called atoms and atoms form compounds and organic compounds that come together into lifeforms capable of consciousness. Everything everywhere that we call matter is made of complex arrangements of photons. Photons can "untangle" and zoom away in waves again. Back and forth, matter changes into energy and energy can form into matter. When we "think" or dream or imagine, those thoughts are energy waves. Our "imaginations" are photons in complex wave frequencies (sizes and patterns of the waves.) From the beginning of the Universe, energy strives for more and more complex arrangements, from two or three photons tangling up all the way to the most complex arrangements that we know about, our imaginations. How we use our imaginations is about that high order of energy arrangements. We "imagine" because, whatever is going on in the Universe . . . Nature's ways, let's say . . .strives for higher and higher arrangements or patterns or constructions of energy. So much of our imaginations go into our artful expressions. And, so much of those artful expressions are functions. A function is like a juxtapositioning of one thing with another thing, just to see what they are like close to each other or mixed with each other. At first, all the permutations seem chaotic and random. But, human history and evolution of life, as a particular step in the rise of energy's complexification, seems dependent upon learning something from those functions, something more "correct" than "wrong". For example, we learn not to touch fire AFTER we place our finger, or mix it, with the flame. To have fun with imagination, think about this: If energy strives for higher and higher order or complexity, and imagination is what we know to be the most complex order of energy, what do you suppose the NEXT higher order would be? What does imagination, as an energy concept, CREATE or form when it mixes with other imaginations?

Imagination helps me move beyond the material to what is possible, but not yet realized. It can also help distract me from pain or boredom.

imagination doesn't exist. you are really just seeing into a different dimension that is why with "imagination" anything is possible because there is a different dimension for every possible event. it is also why children have such active "imaginations" they are knew to the world and their minds have yet to settle.
