Building a Home by Shenandoah
BUILDING A HOME
Writers: Brent Lamb
A BEDROOM AND A BATH, A KITCHEN AND A DEN
A FOUR-ROOM MANSION THAT WE LIVED IN
A TABLE AND CHAIRS I BUILT, AND A BORROWED TELEPHONE
HER BEDROOM SUIT, MY STEREO
THAT’S ABOUT ALL WE HAD, WASN’T MUCH I KNOW
BUT WE WERE NOT BUILDING A HOUSE
WE WERE BUILDING A HOME
CHORUS
HOUSES ARE BUILDINGS LINED UP IN A ROW
BUT A HOME IS WHERE FAMILIES LEARN TO LOVE AND GROW
NO IT’S NOT ABOUT BUILDING A HOUSE
WE’RE BUILDING A HOME
AS TIME WENT BY THE BOTH OF US KNEW
WHEN THE BABIES ARRIVED WE WOULD NEED MORE ROOM
SO WE GOT A BIGGER HOUSE AND A BIGGER LOAN
LOOKING BACK NOW ON EVERYTHING WE WENT THROUGH
WE LEARNED WHAT MATTERS, WHAT’S REAL AND WHAT’S TRUE
IT’S ALL ABOUT BUILDING A HOUSE
ON A FOUNDATION OF STONE
CHORUS
WHERE YOU LIVE DOESN’T MATTER AT ALL
JUST MAKE SURE THAT THERE’S LOVE IN THOSE WALLS
CHORUS

A heart is a house for love
and I've learned (I've learned)
that it don't take much to break a
heart is a house for love
and I've learned (I've learned)
that it don't take much to build it up
(build it up, build it up, build it up!!)
I think the Dells sing this.

"Our House" By Crosby Stills and Nash is a great one - "Our house, is a very very very fine house". There's also and "Our House" by the ska band Madness. I love both tunes!
