The aspirations of the occupants of social housing seem to differ from owner-occupiers. Could a lot of trouble between neighbours be avoided if segregation was reinstated?

Total segregation. Having spent 25 years working and paying for your house, you don't want to find that your neighbourhood has been turned into Tower f****ng Hamlets!

I grew up in Council Housing and I turned out all right. I was never in trouble with the law, was always respectful to my neighbours who tended to be elderly, I got good exam results and went to University. I then had a great career in the Police before I emigrated to the States. While I was growing up I always had loads of friends and was always safe playing outside because there were so many people keeping an eye for the kids. Unfortunately, there are a few bad apples that make council housing look the pits and lack the kind of civic responsibility you find in those who own their own property. However, with the rising cost of property in the UK it may be that in the future everyone but the super rich will live in social housing. Segregation is not the way. The answer is for people to not be afraid to confront those who make life a living hell for everyone else. Its their responsibility to report unsociable behaviour and support the Police, Courts and local authorities in dealing with the unruly elements.

i was born and raised on a council estate i dont have a criminal record and i was in the army for ten years
i cant afford a mortgage and i dont want one i'll be happy with a council house.you mention segregation.how would that work
that would only make things worse, i might not have loads of cash but i am fit and healthy.we all cant afford to buy our own house's. at lest council house's would sort out the homeless problem.beside's judgeing by the price of house's i would rather keep traveling with that kind of cash.
