My doctor prescribed Tramadol for my lower back pain, but I had some sort of reaction to it which caused me to itch all over. I don't necessarily need something stronger, but just something a little different. Is there anything else anyone can suggest I talk to her about. (I've taken all sorts of over-the-counter stuff and they don't touch it)

Try Massaging the back muscles by applying pressure will reduce the pain.Apply an icepack to the affected area. This will make the area numb and reduce the pain or apply a hot water bottle, heating pad or a warm compress to the painful area of the back .Sometimes alternating a warm compress and an icepack will reduce the pain faster. What is the cause of your back pain?
The previous drugs are good, but dont take long-term as the tylenol in them and/or the ibuprophen in them are dangerous to your liver !!! If you must take long term narcotics for back pain you will need something that wont cause you to end up needing a liver transplant!!! If your GP cant or wont help you need to go to a good pain doctor. he will probably prescribe MSSR in whatever strength suits your needs. But he will do MRIs or need the ones you have so be sure to take them with you. Good Luck, been suffering for 8 yrs due to DRUNK DRIVER -- youngish male, of course. BEST WISHES, Barbie
