Yes most definitely. It used to be just teenagers wanted to have the lastest trends and styles. Now you see the youngest of children all decked out in trendy fashions, accessories and name brands. Plus they know what they are and ask for them.

Yes there is a lot of pressure for young people to look good as well as the older ones. The one and only thing that is important, is that you love yourself then everything else will fall into place. Look at Brittany Spears, she use to look good but it didn't make her happy. The girls needs help.

No. I don't think so. I was raised in the 60's. At that time any one who was different was really treated poorly. People who were obese were ridiculed to no end. People with mental disabilities often could not even enter a mainstream school. Tolerance has grown since I was a child. Nowadays you see beautiful girls dating fatass guys. This would never have happened when I was school age. Pressure to look good has been around for a long time.

Oh I sure do think so! A sample size for a model when I was younger was a 6 or an 8 now it is a 0 or a 2.

It's not just young people, there is pressure on everyone to look good. Because people are not judged by who they are, they are judged by how they look and that is so wrong, but that is the way our society is!

yes and they are too encouraged to be thin. growing up I didnt have to watch those subway commercials telling people your kids are fat take them to subway. yeah like that mayo and extra bacon they put on your sub is really healthy right? oh, sorry i kinda went off there. but yes I think celebrities are WAy too thin and they are giving a bad message to the kids who idolize them. I think there has always been pressure to look good and stay fit, but lately ALL i see are diet pill and acne cream ads.

Yes. I'm young and I feel like I have to get my hair done and buy nice expensive clothes. When all I want to do is buy hair dye and clothes at Wal-Mart. I'm in debt beacuse I go buy expensive things to make me "pretty." But, hopefully when I get a lil older I'll grow out of my superficial stage and realize I'm pretty inside. I need therpy lol!

I would say yes. But it has been this way for awhile now. I do believe it has gotten worse through the years. I am in my 30's when I was a teenager if you were normal weight that was normal now it seems teens think normal weight is fat or overweight. Best thing to do is be yourself.

i am a "young person" and i am not under a lot of pressure. i think i was blessed with good looks that i do not need to work hard for, and i am thankful for it. a lot of girls in my school strive very hard. they have the make-up.. straightened hair.. tight jeans.. uggs.. some of them would do anything to stay looking good, and that's not right.
