Basically Paypal reversed a Payment I sent. Probably becasue it was £400 and I only buy small items usually under £20 so they reversed it and said it was high risk and limited my account. Anyway the seller had already sent the item, I told him I would send him a cheque but it didnt matter a damn paypal have filed his head full of crap and now he has got the Police involved. I am worried, what will the Police do?? Add to that my Parent will not be happy with the Police calling

If you have the funds then don't worry. You can prove that you could pay in the first place through Paypal, it was them who stopped the payment not you.
tell your parents though in case the police do knock on the door.At least then they will be ready to back you up knowing all the facts. You don't say how old you are but I'm assuming its your cheque book so I wouldn't be too worried.

Tell your parents what is going on. You've done nothing wrong. Make copies of all the correspondence between you and PayPal and you and the seller and have them ready to show to the police if they do decide to investigate. If you haven't already paid for the item you've received, do so immediately. If the seller receives your check and cashes it, any case against you will have to be dropped--he sent you an item and you paid for it, therefore no legal issue. When you send the check, have as many people as possible witness the event. That way, even if the seller says they never received a payment for their item, you will have plenty of witnesses to testify that you did indeed mail a check.

Don't worry--this is not going to be a high priority to police. They have plenty of real crimes to investigate. Hopefully, the seller will simply cash the check you send him and all of your problems will be solved. Good luck!

As far as I can see from what you have said, you have done nothing wrong. If paypal stopped the payment, that is something they have to deal with. You have not attempted fraud, offering to send a check for the payment. If the seller refused that, it is his problem and the police will not arrest you for this. I think they will be more annoyed with the seller who could have got his money in a check and paypal for messing you about in the first pace. If the police do come knocking, tell them the truth.

Is your paypal attached to a bank acct?? Is it your bank acct? Is it attached to a credit card? Is it your credit card? The point is if you are using your parents account that may be why the money was reversed. Your parents may have placed a limit on the account. Anyway, tell the guy you are returning the item ask for refund and get the cops off your back.

Sounds to me like the seller is blowing smoke. Ain't ebay great? I sold on there for 5 years & wish I never had. I sure made them a lot of money. Whatever happens, don't lose any sleep over it. Do a yahoo search for ebay sucks & look at some of the results. I wish someone had told me to do that. I would never have gotten involved with ebay. I saw on the news the other night a short documentary that estimated 60% of the sellers on ebay are criminals & ebay don't care. ebay always makes money. By the way paypal ripped me off by double charging me for seller fees. I was supposed to get reimbursed @ the next billing cycle which never happened. I finally told them to stick it. I wish you the best of luck. Live & learn.

Considering that you have done nothing wrong... you should not be worried. It has nothing to do with you. The guy sent you his item, and is angry that he hasnt recieved payment obviously, but he should understand the situation. Tell the police nothing but the truth. You should do that no matter the situation.
Your parents should not get angry with you because this situation is entirely out of your hands.

keep all emails or letters you have about this problem.

if you have the police report number , contact that department and explain that you have sent the guy a check and that paypal acted without your authority.

There shouldn't be any problems.

Except maybe your parents wondering what your spending all that money on. :(

The police WONT get involved...Apparently you are a minor, you cannot enter into a legal contract. If it would make you feel better, get a money order send it registered mail marked
PAID IN FULL...save reciepts, show them to anyone who ask you.
Resign from pay-pal...They are a total rip!

Can you send the item back??? Email the seller and be totaly honest.... say you fucked up.. Well actualy maybe you should lie.. lol.. whatever just get the item back to the seller and make an excuse as to why you couldnt pay.. .. IF YOU get the item back to to he seller he should back off.. im sure..

If you have caused the seller costs then pay that.. its better than the £400..

Id love to know how you get on...?
