I can't decide where to post this, so I'm posting it twice in two areas. I'm on the library board and we are about to spend 5-6 million on a new library. The architect has built in rounded windows with special nooks for the children, a separate bathroom, and their own children's story time/craft room. I'm wondering if anyone has seen something like a loft or treehouse, or train theme, some thing unique. If you know the name and location of the library, that would be very useful.

Not a library at all but this may be a starting point for a brainstorm. I loved the book theme of the Winnie the pooh ride at Disney. (I hope you've been there) They have the huge storybook pages that then come to life as you go through the ride. There were pages in the book and those that were blowing about due to the very blustery day.

Perhaps some specialty bookshelf's along the wall that look like large books. Or even just one central shelving unit that looks like a huge open book. This could be a backdrop for story time situation and a display for new arrivals or themes.

I have never seen anything that cool. I have seen the children's area painted with tropical jungle theme. I think you have some good ideas there.
