I would give most of it away...
7million is grand but I would love to win something like the 100 and something million that the woman in Limerick won on the Euro millions a few years ago then I could really go to town.
After looking after my family I would get to work on helping all the people who are homeless here in the Ireland of plenty. I would buy the talent to help me plan it, the best brains in the world, then I would staff it and build a place where the people who lived in the apartments could go to retrain and gain confidence to face the world again and then their places could be filled by more people untill there were no more homeless people.
With the money well managed and growing I would also build a beautiful place for the elderly who need care and who are not in a position to pay for it. It would be a wonderful place with small selfcontained houses, where those who were able to could have their own place but be happy in the knowledge that there was help and medical staff on the grounds should they need it. I would also have on the grounds a wonderful home where the people who needed full time nursing would live with all the comforts of home which would include their pets. Remember I can pay for staff to help with all this. I would also have on the property, a music room for playing any instruments they may have and for entertaining or tea dances, a well stocked library, a few reception rooms where they could play cards or write or knit or watch TV or play music or do craftwork or anything else that one would do at home, a garden where the gardeners among the guests could get their hands dirty if that is what makes them happy. There would be raised beds too for anyone in a wheelchair, and why not a swimming pool. Any more suggestions can be placed in the box on the hall table.
Mustn't forget to do something for all abandoned animals to help all the wonderful people who spend their lives taking care of them.
Please God I would love to do all these things. How I wish I could get my hands on some of the millions that some people just leave doing nothing, as if they could possibly spend it all in a lifetime.

I would like to think that I would give at least a million away (if I won 7 million), shared between my immediate family and my nominated charities. That would be my instant, gut reaction to winning.
I would need to spend some time thinking about my future once the dust has settled, and then decide carefully what to do, hopefully ignoring any pleads, begging, emotional blackmail etc. I always thought that it would be a fabulous situation to be in but I can well imagine that some aspects of it would be difficult to handle. I wouldn't give anything to my neighbours though.
Nevertheless, I will still spend my pound every week on the lottery, and if a win happens then I will no doubt manage to cope, lol x

If I won the lottery, that would be pretty miraculous to begin with, seeing as I have never played! =0)
But anyway, to answer your question - I would give my family as much as they needed. I would obviously pay off my schooling, buy a house, a new car, and put money away for my future family. Next I would help my parents and the rest of the family, and my boyfriend with what they need. (need, not want!) lol. I bet I'd have a lot more "friends" if word got out that I won 7 million... but that's alright, because I already know who my true friends are! I would help out inner city schools, make sure that they have the money to support programs and supplies for the children. I would probably find some sort of charity that helps educate children in other countries as well. I would then save the rest, and live off of interest. I would continue to work - as a teacher, because that is one of the things I live for!

Hi Patsy,
I'm glad you mentioned a figure to work with.
Well apart from the obvious like pay off my sisters' mortgage and set up a trust fund for the kids of the family, my own obviously and nieces and nephews. (2 million)
I would set up a trust fund for university scholarships, 2 million. It would provide accomodation, all fees, books and food. It would be aimed at the brightest home students that would not otherwise have been able to afford to go to uni.
That leaves 3 million.
I would spend up to £350,000 on a house. No need for anything silly that costs a fortune to run. A small staff. An ordinary car, nothing flash. Just something to be taken for a night out and picked up after.
A special " Hello I'm your long lost skint cousin" detector, that also identifies real friends from spongers and hangers on.
Also there are a number of sick children that need special equipment in their homes or a trip to disney land or to swim with dolphins.
Anonymous arrangements would be made where possible.
Overall I would like to think I could do something to help those less fortunate than myself but not a penny would be given to overseas charities or projects. There is too much that needs to be done in the UK.

I wouldn't actually give anybody a lump sum i would probably buy my parents and my wife's parents a house and then if anybody needed anything they could just ask for it I would invest around two million and a few grand in my mates company he is trying to get up and running> I think that if you start giving certain people a set amount then you end up causing arguments in family's as I have a large family 3 sisters and a brother then there kids and then aunts uncles etc when do you stop lol> I would donate £100.000 in the ketch cottage children's hospice and then help out when i could financially.
But it would be amazing how many people would be all a sudden nice to you eh lol

if i won 7 million i would give half of it to charity because i've always said that's what i would do it - probably a charity dealing with third world countries because i think those are the places we should be targeting the most. I wouldn't give anything to my neighbours because i don't like any of them, except one of them - i'd give her £10,000. I would probably buy my friends something nice, maybe take them on a shopping spree, so lets set aside £25,000 for them. I would buy my mum a house so let's put aside £500,000 for her. I would probably invest some money for my sister because she's too young for it right now.
I'd probably invest the rest for when i want to buy a house of my own, or open a little business or something.
