What do I need to know about bringing prescription drugs into other countries? I'm from the US and plan on traveling to multiple countries in Europe. I was wondering if this is a big issue or not. I have a prescription to a schedule 4 drug.

I traveled through France Germany and Italy, the U.K, U.S.A, in the last twelve months carrying schedule 4 drugs. They will be x.rayed at airports and train stations if traveling across borders. No-one asked to look at them. I wasn't once questioned about them. I carried a letter from my Dr stating that I was taking these medications. Take enough for the trip with some for a few days extra, don't carry large amounts. Make sure they are labeled with your name on them. Keep them in a separate secure bag with your hand luggage if flying, and lock them away safely when not needed. Don't leave them out in the hotel or where you are staying, you don't want to be without medication. I broke my arm in New York and carried Vicodin into France no problems.

Make sure you have the labelled containers showing your name and the drug (instead of a pill holder) and have a reasonable amount for the time you'll be away.
