War is a competition for resources, nothing less. It always has been. Almost every creature on the planet engages in wars competing over resources at some point. It isn't some narrow-minded conspiracy conducted by a handful of people just so they can make profits. All of Americans benefited from the Revolutionary War.

You need to think of war in historical terms too, including the Crusades, the Dark Ages, Rome, Greece, etc... You can't just think about modern wars.

So it could be said that war itself is not evil. Only those who seek it out and force another to react without just cause.
Historically speaking, mankind has constantly been competing for resources, both land and material wealth.
