Absolutely not a good idea and I am scared to know where this idea even came from. This could scar a child of that age for life. You need to talk to your family doctor about the possibility of incontinence also some children will do this on purpose to gain attention from someone or to feel more like the "baby" in the family if there is a new member of the family. If this is the case you need to talk to the child and explain why that is not necessary as well as how important they are and the benefits of being a "big kid." Please do not every punish a child until you are sure this is a behavioral problem that doesn't go deeper than normal.

I've heard of punishing a kid by making him or her wear a diaper. It definitely should not be done, it can be considered child abuse. It's humiliating for a child and is never appropriate, regardless of the circumstances. If you don't know any other way of making him behave, the best thing to do would be to speak to a behavioral psychologist and ask their advice.

I'm not sure what this means, but I assume it means that you're punishing (or thinking of punishing) your child for having accidents. If so, this is a truly bad idea. Kids don't want to have accidents. It's embarrassing to them and not their fault - it's a bladder control issue. Talk with your pediatrician about options, including medication. Good luck.

If you want to shatter their self-esteem for all time, sure. And if you're talking about a "cure" for enuresis (bed-wetting or poor bladder control), and want to compound the problem and add some others to it, sure, go ahead.

I would think that would actually be a form of child abuse. Call social services if it's true.
