Hi there,
I couldn't leave you to the two previous respondents as
a) The first one obviously hates self-help books in general, and considers that anyone who wants to improve their life a bit 'lame'. He/She probably has a comfortable life and doesn't understand that others may wish to improve theirs.
b) The second one clearly doesn't understand hypnosis at all. You don't need to 'believe' in it any more that you need to believe in a teapot. As it requires your commitment, you do need to want the benefits. You also do not need to spend the rest of your life in a trance! You use the hypnosis sessions to make changes that, surprisingly enough, persist after the hypnosis session is over. Finally, everyone can be hypnotised (apart from the three exclusion groups: children under the age of 7, those under the influence, and psychotics) but you have to want to be hypnotised. You can't be hypnotised against your will.
So back to the original question: The book is excellent and well worth a try. Why? First, because you can go for anything you want (not just lose weight, stop smoking etc). Also, hypnosis is a very pleasant experience and normally helps with lots of other issues whilst working on your main goal (e.g. you may find you sleep better, feel generally calmer, etc). Finally, Ursula is very good at explaining what you need to do to get the goals in a way that is easy to understand, and at a pace that is realistic. Give it ago - it costs less than a tenner.
Finally, before I shut up, if you go to her website (www.ursulajames.com), you can buy a signed copy, and the extra £2 charged will be donated to the 'BIG ISSUE' foundation.
I should mention that I am a hypnotherapist and that I am familiar with Ursula James work, and am in awe of her expertise, so I am biased, hence I have only presented factual information here.
Feel free to contact me if you would like further information.

No, it's not. It's basically the same as ever other lame self-help book but with a hypnotism twist. The people who spend good money for this kind of book need a clue and a life, and not neccessarily in that order.

No. First of all, hypnosis only works for those who deeply believe in it. Everyone can not be hypnotized. And think about it, if you need to be hypnotized in order to transform your life, what happens when you "snap out of it"??
