Can you dye blue denim with RIT dye?

Has anyone tried this, and did it work?

I used it with a dark blue denim skirt. I had to use three packets though (long skirt) and the dye ran in the wash, so be careful. (But yes it does work- just wash it alone or with same colours for a while)

You can use rit dye for denim because it is cotton and rit works on cotton. If your jeans are really dark it will not show much, but if they have some fading the faded places will take up the dye. I have used rit dye, but mainly to dye faded black clothes back black again. I used a pot on the stove to do it because I did not want it getting into the washing machine.
