Paperback books aren't as heavy duty as the hardcovers, but they still hold up. Don't expose them to the elements (you shouldn't with any book), and keep them out of harm's way. Also, always use a bookmark instead of setting the book facedown on something with it still open because it completely ruins the binding. They last pretty long.

A long time as long as they don't get wet. They do sometimes get crinkled covers though if you don't take care of it and leave it at the bottom of your book bag. ( My Book has a crinkled cover, it's a paperback.)lol

As far as I know and see from my collection, they can last sometime at 40+ years, it depends on the quality of paper, binding and covers. Some with mediocre quality will transform themselves into something oldish, yellowish and out of their places regarding some pages which simply loosen themselves from the spine. However, some with top quality like the medium-sized ones printed by university presses are simply intact, noble and durable like their hardcover counterparts.

Gee,
I guess that depends of course on how much use it gets, no? But I believe the goal shouldn't be to see how long a book lasts, but what we get out of it. That is the really important thing.

I have some that are over 30 years old. They can last a long time if they are properly cared for.

Like any book, it depends on how well you take care of them.
They can last a long, long time, or they can be destroyed in less than an hour.
