10K white gold has 41% gold alloyed with other metals. They can be base metal or other precious metals that are white/silvery. 10K gold is as low a gold content as it gets in jewelry. It is typically alloyed with silver, palladium, platinum, or even nickel. The more palladium or platinum there is, the more expensive the gold, even though they are all 10K white gold. Since you are comparing white gold to lustrium, I'm guessing it's a nickel alloyed white gold for a class ring. Lustrium does not have any gold or other precious metal in it. I believe it's mainly chrome and nickel. It looks like white gold, but has no gold.

If you are allergic to nickel, I'd recommend you stay away from lustrium. Find out what metals they are alloying with that 10K white gold. If it's indeed for a class ring, the sales rep should be able to tell you if you ask.
