the Nano doesn't play videos right out of the box, but you can add 3rd party software:

And then use the iPod Linux video player

But be warned this is very hard to install, and it voids your warranty. Also, you can only play uncompressed .avi files, so your movie on the nano will actually be 10 times the size of the original movie file.
