You can't connect them like that as the guy above me said. Try connecting it with a phone cable and see what happens genius.

Ok, now here's what you really do.

You need a network card/ ethernet port in both computers. You may or may not have one depending on the age of the computers you are using. Typically they are around $20 each. That's a standard network card.

You will need an ethernet cable to connect the two computers

You will need two copies of the game, which then need to be updated to version 1.21 of starcraft. This can be done simply by running battle.net from within starcraft, the game will automatically update.

Starcraft will update and restart.

Go into the multiplayer menu and select the bottom option. (direct connection lan or something like that, I can't quite remember what it's called, but it's the bottom option and it only appears once you update the game.

Now you can play multiplayer.

you can battle on battle.net or you just can hook up the comps by using a telaphone wire. it may be slow but it works, or you go to cicut city or other electronic stores and ask an asistant for a cable wire. the cable wire should be about 10-20 bucks. it may be expensive but o'well.
directions:
1) go to expansion.
2) click Direct cable connection
3) clicl ok
4) choose player ID
5) chose map
6) walla

and connect the cable wire to the computers before logging on.
you need to connect the cable line to a free serial port on each computer.
