The real world? You are in it. Hurdles and challenges await you around every corner and are changed by the rising sun. Fill out that application with every straight up honest answer you can find, then go to that job interview with your head held high and a confident smile on your face. Keep getting more applications and making those contacts. Somebody out there is looking for you and they won't find you unless you present yourself to them. Job hunting can be frustrating, interesting, fun and sickening. You will meet new people and learn new things even if you're not a social flutterby.

It sounds like you might have self-esteem issues or perhaps a touch of social anxiety. I get that way when I have to go to a party or meet new people -- even when I have to talk on the phone sometimes. You should see if you can find either a doctor or a counselor or someone you trust to talk to. Maybe a friend can come with you as far as the door, to give you moral support? There are exercises, meditations and even medications that can help in this type of situation. Good luck!

I'm the same way. It's like I'm scared to be around people for some reason and I don't know why. I'm scared to leave home because I don't want all the responsibility of an adult. Sometimes I just want to curl up in a ball and stay there forever. Not because in mad or sad or angry. But because it comfortable and I am afraid of change. But I have to live with it and it gets easier as I go along.

If it's something you have never done, it's not at all surprising if you feel a bit anxious about it. Find something you like to do, and try to get a job doing that. Perhaps, as someone who is not social, you might do well working in a library, or something like that.
You are, metaphorically speaking, just about to get into the pool. At this point, you don't know whether the water is cold, or hot. I'm sure that if you dive right in, you'll be fine in no time.

It's a normal reaction. The fight or flight response. If something's too difficult, by design you run away from it - we all do it. Just write a list of the pro's and con's, then get rid of the cons and tell yourself it's not a wooly mammoth. Good luck

Nah, it's fine ... Once you get that first job, everything should be fine.
Just be yourself. We all have that fear of approaching something we've never encountered. That's what "growing up" means, to conquer our fears. That's how we becomer "stronger". I think you'll do just fine ...
