Do they have a specific place, or do they just come at the end of the main series?

I remember trying to work this one out when I was 10 years old. I think they were written to try and fit in where ever so that if readers were up to a particular point in the series they were not too confused. A rough guide would be to check the year of publication in the book sleves.

If i recall they just kind of came in whenever. Ususally it had to do with summer or winter vacations, or spring break. I loved those books.
