A little something to think about next time you ask a question. These posts are being read by people all over the world, they don't know your customs, or your abbreviations, or your slang. If a question is worth asking on here, then isn't it worth getting it right?

Ahh, reading your post is like a balsam for my net-speak-weary eyes.
Thank you. I thought the breed who can actually spell has died out.

I agree with you. I may not use capital letters all the time, but I do spell out the words instead of things like plzz or u for you and other examples like that. I was thinking about this earlier today. There are a lot of questions out there where it is nearly impossible to figure out what the person is asking. To respond to those that say this is not a grammar test, if you don't practice it here or in your other casual chats, how does it effect your school work? I would imagine if you are teaching yourself improper English and constantly using improper English, it would have an effect on your grades.

Your son is 11 why do you expect him to be perfect with his spelling and grammar? My teachers most certainly do correct usually they're wrong when correcting and "didn't notice their mistake" anyway. Maybe when he's not in grade school he will get better at those things, and i don't believe you should have such high expectations of him at such a young age, because sooner or later he will learn how to do those things. Maybe not when you want it, but it will happen. I speled lyk dis fer dree yeers till i reelized i luked dum. See I grew out of it and even then I knew how to spell correctly. Never in grade school did a teacher correct any of the students grammar, and I believe thats because it's rude as the pupil is barely maturing and learning.

it saves time and who cares anyway the point of this is to answer questions not pass a grammar test some people are not so educated and probably dont know where to put commas etc and dont care if they can spell or not cos they are not writing a business letter. Personally i cannot be bothered with correct capital letters etc cos im trying to put the answer on as quick as poss before anyone else does. Also this question has been asked billions of times before so if you dont like my answer look up some different ones lazy!

Because with the innovations of IM, as well as messaging systems on Myspace and Facebook, it has become a sort-of cultural slang. Also, when talking to more than a couple of people on messenger, the best way is the quickest way AKA less grammar.

I suspect it's a couple of things at work. One is, of course, that no one teaches grammar anymore in schools. It's fallen out of fashion. Another is that most people get their information about the world from television news and the like, and have never seen the inside of a book.

well its because if you doing it for school you always make sure u use punctuation and proper grammer but if your just on the computer chatting with your friends or just typing something on the computer for fun like this it would not really matter because no one evaluates what you write on the computer when you are just on iit for fun!
