How is it over there? Is the temperature really always between 67* and 74*? Is it clean? Is there considerable crime? How do you like it? How far is it from San Diego? Is the main highway to San Diego always crowded? Is there anything to do in the city itself, without always going to S.D.?

Temperature. Carlsbad is right along the coast so it between those temps most of the time. During the winter it is probably closer to the low 60's, and if we get a Santa Ana during the summer it could be in the 90's.

From Downtown San Diego you are about 30 miles, I-5 is the main Freeway between Carlsbad and Downtown. It is crowded during the rush hour which runs from about 6- 9am and again 3-6pm. During this time it could take more than an hour to get downtown.

Carlsbad is one of the better areas of San Diego, it would be considered Upper-Middle to Upper Class homes. In Carlsbad there is of course the Beach, you also have an Outlet Center and regular shopping mall within about 5 miles. Legoland is also in Carlsbad. You are close to several movie theaters. The downtown area has some small shops and is geared toward the tourist industry.

Carlsbad is a great small beach town, the temp ranges from daytime low 50, daytime hi 85 - MOST days are very mild and the average is in the range you stated - see NCtimes.net for historical weather info - very clean, little crime, lived here for 30 years (am now 53) will never leave, 35 miles to downtown SD, Interstate 5 is usually very busy rsuh hour, otherwise not too bad (what are you use to? nothing like LA), last question really depends on what you like to do - very little nightlife, some good restuarants. How old you are and what you enjoy would dictate if you went south to SD or north (45 miles) to Irvine, etc. Hope that helps from an old guy.

No the temp isnt always that. I live in carlsbad, and it has so much history and way more to do than you think. There's legoland and the flowerfields in the spring and there's the village and theres the great beaches. They have great hotels like the 4 seasons aviara and La costa resort. Hardly any crime is commited, but once in a while there is some. the beaches are like any, with mild pollution, but it's not harmful. It is a wonderful city!!!PS last year this time it hailed so the temperature varies, but now it is nice!!traffic is bad but you can take the beautiful highway 101!! (aka PCH)

It is really nice there. Right by the beach. Its about as perfect as weather can get. I don't think there is hardly any crime there. The traffic can get pretty bad. It would be pretty tough if you had to commute into San Diego everyday. Especially during rush hour (7am-9am, and 3:30-7pm) you could be on the freeway a really long time. Its really clean. There isn't a lot of night life, but you could go to the beach, or restaurants. There are plenty of shopping centers. Overall if you can stand the traffic I think it is one of the best places to live in the world.

If you have boys that are skateboarders it is heaven, lots of famous places to skate, surfing and sports. One thing we have found in visiting our small pomeranian always suffers breathing problems and the truck does not run as well, something about the air quality I guess. Home prices are dropping right now, but still remain higher in that area compared to others. Oceanside is close by and another option. Best to you.
