Over the years of listening to all types of music, I've noticed that black people (primarily black americans, cuz I don't know a lot of blacks of other countries that sing as good as black americans) sing the best out of all the different races. We have the emotion and hit all the right keys and stuff. I'm so proud of my race.... It's even gotten to the point were other races emulate us.
I know this sounds racist, but if one were to just sit back and just listen to popular music, you'd see were I was coming from.

After seeing the responses to this question, I believe that the majority of people that replied have been insulted.
To set the record straight, I do believe that there are people of different ethnic backgrounds that have amazing voices. It's just that the majority of popular singers (Billboard chats) over the years have been black americans.
Is there someone who can prove me wrong without giving the cliche answer "There are great singers in every race or I'm black and I can't sing."

Not all of us,I couldn't carry a note 2 inches. The media tries to portray us that way as they portray all Italians as being in the Mafia or Asians as being all smart. Every race has there good singers, brainy college folks, criminals, thugs, business savvy people and all.

I can't speak for myself because I can't really sing but I think the reason alot of Black people can sing is genetics, I'm not a scientist but, just listen to the Winans family for example. Also, Whitney Houston, her mother Cissy Houston was a gospel singer. CeCe Winans is her cousin; Dionne Warwick is her cousin and Aretha Franklin is her Godmother. I can't sing because it doesn't run in my family, the only person in my family that can really sing is my Aunt Doris

I'm Black, and a singier/songwriter. I enjoy all spectrums of music regardless of race. I refuse to limit my ears and my heart to just one style of music. You are entitled to your opinion, but I would expand my horizons if I were you. There are many artists of different ethnic background that will move you. Listen with your ears not your eyes.

Doesn't sound racist,it IS.To actually say with a straight face that blacks sing better than whites ,or whites sing better than orientals,or Latinos sing better than blacks is racist.you are talking of one type of music and coming up with the assumption that because you are black and most pop music singers are black there-fore all the best singers are black. But if you listen to opera most of the singers are white, most country singers are white,if you listen to Spanish MTV they are Latino.why take your narrow little view of the world and make a narrow-minded comment like that.I listen to blues and most performers are black but to say Eric Clapton can't play blues guitar and Janis Joplin couldn't sing blues is ridiculous and to say Carlos Santana or Los Lonely Boys cant play blues is even more asinine.OPEN your ears and your mind.

It's not just black people that can sing. And I am black. God doesn't give just blacks the talents and ability to sing. There are lots of other races that can sing. It's just who God decides to give the talent to. It's not about race. Maybe you're just listening to so many black singers. Try listening to Christina Aguilera or Shakira or someone else that isn't black!

Is there an objective test to determine who "sings the best," or is it a matter of opinion?

I think its because your voices are more versatile. I dont know, im white and it seems to me that my voice is very limited and it is only the few white people who can sing very good, but most black people i know can sing well....even if they havnt been trained.
lol, its strange isnt it? but our differences i what makes life interesting.
