"men" who change their sex do so because they are born with female bodies and, as you noted, they are men so why wouldn't they?? "women" may also do this, if born in a male body. The empathy is easy:
Whatever you are, imagine you were the opposite gender. Assuming you are not transsexual (which it sounds you are not from your original question), imagine how awkward you would feel in that gender role and you can soon realise how vividly transsexuals feel the need to become themselves.

They are too tired looking at the same organ all their life.
Its too bulgy and gets in the way.
They want to have multiple orgasms.
They feel more a woman.
It gets them extra income.
Dont know man but I guess they must 250% feminine mentally in order to want to go through the pain and ordeal.
