Anyone ever see those couch-like, foam sitting things that unfold into a bed that a guest could sleep on? What are they called and where can I find them?

Well, there's the Futon... which has a frame, and mattress. It folds up during day like a couch, and becomes flat for sleeping... Not very comfortable tho.

There are also "Flip Beds" which are just pieces of foam, sewn into covers which fold up into 'on the floor seating'... surprisingly enough, these aren't too bad to sleep on... but... most of them are "child sized"

Of course there is always the infamous Sleeper Sofa. While most of these are uncomfortable, you can find some good ones out there. Look for one with a high quality mattress. (We had one for years from JC Penney, that had an inner coil spring mattress -- very comfortable to sleep on)

And, these days, you also have the choice of inflatable mattresses, or even "hide-a-bed furniture". I know of one that doubles as an office desk, during day, and folds down to a bed at night. There are the others referred to as "wall beds", because they fold up to a wall, and look like a cabinet. Some of these fold up lengthwise, and some sideways.

now... where can you find all these? usually at furniture stores. thats the first place to look. The foam 'flip-beds' can be found at stores like Wal-Mart or Target... but to find one big enough for adults, you'd probably have to go to a furniture store.

Have fun

Futons are not comfortable to sleep on. LoveSac has a new furniture line called Sactionals. I've heard that they are very comfortable for sitting and sleeping and they can be arranged in many different ways. lovesac.com

It's called a futon. You can pretty much get them anywhere. I would recommend trying IKEA.
