I'm trying to burn a dvd I made with roxio, but its telling me that one or more of my DMA recording devices are turned off. How do I turn them on, or where do I go to find info on how? Anything would be appreciated, thanks.

It seems that the DMA drivers are not installed for one of your drives.
It happens sometimes with Windows XP, try Windows Update.

Just to check if this is the problem.
Go to 'My Computer'
Right click and go to 'Properties'
click on the 'Hardware' tab
there select the 'device manager'

Does it shows certain yellow question marks?
these are the drivers missing from your system.

It may also happen that all the drivers are installed but still for your optical drive DMA is not getting enabled.

It happened with me and I had to uninsall my Windows XP and try another copy of Win XP professional.

However, if you have a genuine copy then better try updating your XP with all the patches.

Hope this helps...!!!1

Your CD burner may not support DMA access. Open Device Manager, expand IDE Controllers, highlight either the Primary or Secondary channel where the burner is attached, right click it, choose Properties, click the Advanced Tab, set Transfer Mode to 'PIO only', restart the computer. The problem may solved.

DMA stands for direct memory access. DMA transfers data between system memory and hardware devices without passing it through the CPU, means faster transfering. To open System Information, click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type msinfo32.exe
