I haven't worn footwear for ten years, so no one needs to ask me to take off what I'm not wearing :P
Before that we always had to go barefoot in the gym (that's a pretty normal thing here in the Netherlands), and also at the horse farm where I rode they wanted us to take off our shoes/boots when we went into the owner's house for anything. I can't remember ever worrying about how my feet looked or even giving it a second thought! I don't care what people think, if I did I couldn't be barefoot at all, especially not in winter. Almost everyone else is wearing heavy boots & closed shoes, it's been months I've even seen anyone wearing sandals.

It sounds like you have a huge foot fetish. That's pretty gross.
But to answer your question, I've never had dirty feet or long toenails. But I was embarrassed before because my nail polish was chipping off of my toenails.

The only time I ever experienced any embarrassment when taking my shoes off was on a day when I'd earlier torn a big hole in a sock. Later before I was able to take it off in private I had to remove my shoes in front of people, though luckily only one person noticed.
