They don't. Morons hate the French. Any self respecting Briton would respect them as one of our closest allies.

It's traditional.
England has been at war with France 20 times (+,-) since the Norman invasion. Our most devoted enemy.
(Scotland holds the second place in this league table)
The French revolution was the horror, and then Napoleon.
There is a suggestion that Brtain only survived the German Luftwaffe onslaught because in the late thirties the RAF got increases in funding to counter a larger *French* airforce.
It is mutual: I have a 1950's cartoon of Charles De Gaulle bayonetting a dummy John Bull. Caption "I have no real no real dispute with Britain, but it would be a shame to let these old traditions die out."
But in all seriousness it should not be overstated.
(My parents, English, live in France).
And most of the French hate Parisians, so agreement on at least that is possible.
It's complicated.

They don't all hate them. My uncle always goes on holiday to France but then he is too vacant to notice how rude they are. I don't hate them either, but I have been in France and had people be rude to us until they realised we were Scottish and not English, so I can sympathise with English people who have encountered such behaviour from the French.

We don't, I think it's more a historical rivalry leading from our close proximity. A bit like Sunderland and Newcastle. I suggested to my manic Mackem colleague that I buy him a black and white strip and he nearly threw a dining chair at me today. Scale up to a national level and the chair becomes cannonballs.

We don't all hate French people - I'm a francophile myself, and many English folks regularly visit France and love it and its inhabitants - but there does seem to be a tradition of French hating among a few English people, I'm afraid. I suspect it dates from the Napoleonic Wars!

Because they believe their better than us. and are extremerl arrogant. But it's not just the Brittish, the Yanks, Italians, most of europe the way I hear it. I might be wrong, but it might also have some thing to do with the phrase "cheese eating surrender monkeys". Sorry
