my friend an i want to go see an R rated movie at cinemark, but my local cinemark is strict about i.d. we are both juniors in highschool. will they refuse to let us in with just a school i.d? neither of us have our lisense, but there is no way of knowing our real age with just a school i.d., but it is known that most juniors are 17 by now. do you think they'll refuse us if we try to get in?

another question, how old does a person have to be to bring a younger person to the movies at cinemark?

Having been the person that sells tickets, I can say that there is no way you will be sold a ticket without an ID showing your date of birth. Just because some juniors are 17 does not mean that all of them are (or seniors, for that matter). If you are 17, you should have an ID by now proving it. Your parents could buy the tickets for you, but we would often check IDs at the door of the theaters to stop such activity. As for your other question, you have to be a reasonable amount older than the person to prove you have some responsibility over them. If your friend is 17, it doesn't mean they can buy you a ticket since you are 16 (people often THINK this is how to beat the system). If you were 17-21, I would pretty much only agree to sell you one R rated ticket.

Here is the deal and I used to sell tickets at a theater. If they are checking ids, which sometimes they don't because it is a hassle, then your sister will be able to get you in and you won't need an id. The rules change at 21 because they can buy tickets for themselves and you. Between 17-20 they may only buy tickets for themselves. But like I say if you act mature and don't give them a reason to suspect you, then they may just let the whole deal slide, unless the manager is pushing ID checks that day.

no form of ID is acceptable to prove age anywhere unless it has a date of birth and picture

and to see an R movie, if you're under 17, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian...you could have a 60 year old taking a 16 year old, it doesn't matter if they're not a parent or guardian

since your school ID doesn't have your date of birth on it, the movie people won't let you in. A school ID is not a proof of age, as you could be some genius kid who skipped a few grades.

Your state should have some sort of ID that isn't a driver's license, or go and take a driver's education course and get your driver's license.

I'm pretty sure if she's over 17 she can buy your ticket no matter how old you are.
