"purchased a pair of boxing gloves from BIG5(sporting goods store) and used them for 6months and one of the gloves started to lose its inner-padding. Then you decide to purchase the EXACT same pair of gloves and return the old ones back to the store to get your money back." They had me fill out a refund form which they took my driver's license and wrote down my info(name/address/signature). I BASICALLY PURCHASED NEW GLOVES SO I COULD EXCHANGE THEM FOR MY OLD ONES AND RETURNED IT BACK TO THE STORE FOR A REFUND. what's the worst that could happen? can they contact me or call the police or am i just too damn paranoid?!

Well, depends on if they notice the gloves were damaged or not when you returned them. If they didn't notice and put them back on the shelf you are fine.....chances are nothing will happen.

It's only grand larceny if the value of the gloves is over a certain amount, (like stealing a car amounts to grand larceny). What you did is probably petty theft, or shoplifting. Cover your ***, go back to the store, insist on speaking to the MANAGER, admit your wrongdoing, and pay for it.

Thats a larceny charge. You basically shoplifted the new gloves.

I've heard lots of stories where they sent people up the river for 20 years or more for things like this. They've probably already figured you out, and are working with your lawyers filing grand larceny charges. You'll probably be arrested soon at home or at work. You better hide!

The worst that can happen would be you having to pay for the new pair of gloves.

I wouldn't call it big trouble.

You are a dirt bag. I could sort of understand if you were stealing food for your kids but this is recreational. Have you no self respect?

That's pretty shady. I'd take this as a lesson and not do that kind of thing again.

You'll have to answer to Jesus.

Seriously, though, you are essentially screwing everyone by doing that. You can get in big trouble because it is fraud.
