Yes. Once you've got it no one can take it away from you and its really surprising how useful it is to have one.

Definitely, especially if you want to go into a career that requires you have a degree. Im a teacher and spent 4 years at university doing a degree but it was worth it in the end and now I love my job. If you really want something, then do it, if you need a degree for a career take it so that you can get the job you want. You have a lot of years to work so make sure you are doing what you want. You have many options open to you after completing your degree and are better off career wise, so it is worth it.

It really depends on what your degree is in and if you intend to work doing that. A lot of people get a bachelor of arts because it's an easy degree, however it's also useless. Get a degree with a goal of a job in mind and even if it doesn't work out you can always do something related. A lot of people get business degrees and from there you can go into marketing, sales, management, statistics or other fields. What degree are you thinking about getting? If you be more specific maybe we could better answer your question. In general yes a degree is worth it if you plan to work in that field or related field and you like what you plan to do.

According to a recent study young adults (mid 20s) with just a high school degree only make about 2/3 as much as those with a college degree -- on average.

Other studies show that those with college degrees are also more satisfied with the work that they do.

I don't believe education is ever wasted.
If you are hoping to get a return on your money by earning more then be sure to do a degree in a subject employers will like. If money isn't your main motivator, follow your passions and really learn about a subject that exites you, you never know you might end up teaching it.

Yes. Over the course of a lifetime's work, a person with a degree will, on average, earn 40% more than someone without a degree.
Example: 40 years WITH = £30,000 x 40 = £1,400,000
40 years WITHOUT = £25,000 x 40 = £1,000,000
GAIN = £400,000

A recent Yahoo News article quoted: 'A person with a higher educational qualification can expect to earn £160,000 more over a working lifetime than someone with A-levels, according to a report.'

For employablility, independence, seeing what sort of person you are and meeting new people- yes it is

For the passion of the subject - only if you really like what you are going to study. Things you do not like but re obligated to do should not be studied. Do it because you have interest and passion for the subject.
