It is a mint green chair which looks like it came off the star ship enterprise. It is what I have but it does not go with the room or me. Any good ideas on how to change the look myself?

Vinyl Dye. Use some tape and paper make a design, nothing very static, more free flowing but with techno angular look. If you buy some Vinyl you can staple it on yourself. It takes a little Tear Down. But it is easy to work with. $15 in tools is all you need, Vinyl will cost $1-to-$15 per yrd.
Tip, get a steamer and steam the foam or cushions. It will make them like new and get rid of any odors that they may hold.

The easiest way is to make a slip cover. all of the parts should unscrew, so a total reupholster is not so hard either. I am sure that some fresh paint on the metal would be nice too.

can U recover it with a "now" fabric? All that takes is a staple gun, some foam, and some material. Simple half hour job.
