i recently bought. spysweeper, but it caused my computer to restart and act crazy so i uninstalled it. so now i dont wanna buy another one. so anyone know of any free ones? an AOL representative suggested these two but i cannot remember the names.

My bank in their online site suggests these two anti-spyware security software (among few others): Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy.
Usually, system admin people will tell you to run Ad-Aware first to eliminate adware followed by Spybot Search and Destroy to remove remaining spyware, if any. Another program you should have is SpywareBlaster. This program prevents spyware from even downloading to your computer so it's a must-have.
Alternatively, if you don't want to have too many programs, you can only use Spybot Search and Destroy, as there is an option 'Immunize' that does the same thing as SpywareBlaster does plus it's more efficient than Ad-Aware alone.
The main downside to this configurartion is that Spybot Search and Destroy uses lots of system resources, that's why it make be better to have Ad-Aware installed as well.

Spysweeper is my absolute FAVORITE spyware software. I dont know why its not workig on your computer, but its amazing on mine.\
well...if you want a free spyware software, spybot or the free ad-aware are good ones. However, i suggest you buy spyware software since it is more reliable and effective.
I suggest you buy the subscription ad-aware.

you have to go to "lavasoft.com" and download it from there, because if you download it anywhere else it costs money. you do scans everyday, and it keeps your computer running better than ever! i promise.
