Not a good thing for your baby, these are a choking hazard, if you want to give your baby the taste of cheese then a little macaroni cheese is safer.

Every baby is different and ready at different stages, you just have to go with your instinct if you think your baby is ready to try cheese then try it, if you listen to what everyone says there are so many confusing messages and opinions you'd be a nervous wreck.
At about your babies age my little boy managed some grated cheese, and also stick like chunks of cheese which he loved and I popped some in the freezer for a few minutes which were great on his gums when he was teething too. Anything is a choking hazard with a baby really, but so long a they're supervised I don't see the problem. I've found in my parenting that the more relaxed you are the more relaxed your child is, so ignore all the worry warts on here!!
Good luck, 8 months is such a fab age! My little ones 1 now, and I miss him being a baby rather than toddler! Steph x

I don't think that it's a good idea to give an 8 month old cheese, my pediatrician says that it's okay and the people at wic suggest it but at that age the GI tract is not fully developed and so it's not a good idea to give them any dairy. When you start to give the baby whole milk instead of formula or breastmilk, then you can start with cheese sticks. At 8 months, stick with baby food and arrowroot cookies, stuff like that. Better safe than sorry.

If your baby is happy to eat cheese sticks there's absolutely no problem. Is it an Americanism that babies under 12-months can't have dairy?? Never heard of that. My kids were weaned on yogurts and bread with real butter - neither of them has ever had a day sick in their lives - they're 7 and 8 now. Good luck x

Cut it into chip shaped bits, and let her chew on it.
Solid food IS NOT a choking hazard for babies. Have you heard of Baby Led Weaning? Have a look at the website below, and also at the Gill Rapley guidelines, there is a link on the blog.
Dairy is fine over 6 months as long as no allergies in the family.

Unless you child is allergic to dairy I don't see a problem with it. Cut it up in small pieces and watch her so she doesn't choke. Every pedi will give you a diffrent answer.
My daughter was eating table food at 6 months old. She ate everything you put in her hand. Her first food was steak. At 23 months old she loves every food. For those of you thinking, No she is not over weight. She only weighs 22 lbs. She was not interested in baby food at all.

You don't. Cheese is a milk product. Besides that it is a choking hazard. Besides that it is deep fried and an 8 month baby doesn't need deep fried things.

cheese strips are fun for an 8/9month old+ to eat as long as you watch them. My 9month old loves cheese and loves being able to do it herself. My healthvisitor said cheese is fine as long as its only cheddar or dairylea. Mine loves sandwiches with dairylea cut into soldiers.
Enjoy.....

At that age dairy isn't a good idea. Past a year old, shredded cheese is very easy for them to eat.

My pedia said babies under 1 year old should be having any diary. They cannot properly digest it? Plus that would seem like a choking hazard unless you are cutting the pieces up so small they melt in her mouth.
